Accessibility and performance
Adaptive is built so that every spatial effect is an extra layer on top of a normal, accessible store. Content, links and buttons are the same with every setting turned off.
Accessibility
In Theme settings › Accessibility:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| When shoppers prefer reduced motion | For visitors who turned on reduced motion on their device: Use fades only keeps gentle fades, Remove all motion stops movement completely. |
| Increase contrast of muted text and lines | Gives secondary text and dividers more contrast against the background. |
| Focus style | Ring or Accent ring around the element that has keyboard focus. |
What the theme does on its own:
- With reduced motion, sections such as the Zoom story show their frames one after another instead of diving through them.
- Rings, decks, flip cards and carousels work with the keyboard and their arrows are real buttons.
- The command menu opens with ⌘K or Ctrl+K and is fully usable with the arrow keys and Enter.
- Videos with chapters, hotspots and pins have text alternatives, and the Video section has a description for screen readers.
Performance
In Theme settings › Performance:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable 3D light field | An extra 3D lighting layer. It loads after the page is ready and only on capable devices. The store looks complete without it. |
| Build the world after content loads | Products and text appear first; the spatial layer is added after. Keep this on for the fastest first view. |
Tip
For the lightest pages, choose Spatial mode: 2D and Motion: Subtle in Theme settings › Experience. The layout and every section stay the same.
